Simple, everyday tips and tricks to keep your body, mind, and soul happy, healthy, and strong.
A lemon a day keeps the colds away!
A little bit of lemon each day will go a long way toward keeping your body healthy and your immune system strong, helping you to ward off the nasties of cold and flu season.
Lemon is cleansing, and stimulates bile production. Bile is essential for the proper digestion and absorption of fats and helps eliminate certain waste products from the body. Proper digestion (paired with a diet of nutrient-rich foods) ensures that your body gets the nutrition it needs to keep your immune system pumping and ready to fight off disease.
It is especially beneficial to have some lemon water first thing in the morning, before you eat anything. I put a squeeze of lemon juice in a mug of warm water (you can add honey or agave to sweeten, or steep some ginger in hot water first for extra warmth and spice). The lemon gets my digestive system moving so it’s ready when I eat breakfast. I’ll often sip lemon water throughout the day, too.
Let me know if you give it a try and notice any changes. And share below what you do to keep healthy during the winter months — I’d love to hear from you!
